A BIT ABOUT PLEV

South Australian Artist

Hi my name is Joel Plevin or Plev. I am 21 years old and live in Wilmington located  in the Flinders Rangers. I paint in a variety of styles varying from realism to abstract. My art work is heavily influenced by the surrounding area which I love to explore through motorbike and mountain bike riding.  I have been painting for the last 8 years and had my first solo exhibition at the Yarta Purtli gallery in 2011 which displayed 20 paintings. Since then I have had a number of solo/shared exhibitions across south Australia and won a selection of art prizes.  I like to paint with a lot of colour, so a lot of my art work is bright and vibrant . When painting I always begin my painting with an orange background. This is evident through the time lapse videos found on this site. Through doing this my painting are warm and have a glow which helps represent the magnificence of south Australia. Through the years my painting styles has changed however my direction of painting hasn’t. When painting I have one aim and this is to capture the charm and beauty of the South Australian landscape.
